Building Safer Communities, One Skill at a Time
At 2nd City CPR & Safety Training, community impact isn’t a side project—it’s the reason we exist. We work to expand access to life-saving education, especially in communities where emergency preparedness gaps cost lives. Our programs focus on prevention, early intervention, and empowering everyday people to act before help arrives.
OUR WHY (MISSION IN PRACTICE)
Why Community Training Matters
Survival from cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, and fire emergencies often depends on bystanders. Yet many communities lack access to affordable, realistic training opportunities. We address this gap by delivering practical, hands-on education where it’s needed most—schools, neighborhoods, workplaces, and public spaces.
KEY IMPACT AREAS
Youth Safety & Fire Prevention
The Survive Alive House is an immersive, hands-on fire safety experience designed to teach prevention, escape planning, and decision-making during emergencies. Participants walk through a realistic home environment while learning how to recognize hazards, respond to smoke and fire conditions, and exit safely. This program is especially effective for youth education and large community events where engagement matters.
CPR & AED Access
We deliver CPR and AED awareness and certification programs to individuals and organizations across Chicago and Cook County. By training teachers, parents, employees, and community members, we increase the likelihood that someone nearby can respond during sudden cardiac arrest. Our focus is on confidence, speed, and correct action—not just certification.
Bleeding Control & Trauma Readiness
Stop the Bleed training equips participants with the skills to control severe bleeding until professional help arrives. These programs are especially impactful in public spaces, schools, and community organizations where immediate response can save lives. We emphasize practical skills that are easy to remember and deploy under pressure.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Collaboration Is How Impact Scales
Our work is amplified through partnerships with schools, nonprofits, public safety agencies, healthcare organizations, and national partners. These collaborations allow us to deliver subsidized or sponsored training, reach underserved populations, and align programs with broader public health goals.
SPONSORED & SUBSIDIZED TRAINING
Making Training Accessible
Many of our community programs are supported through sponsorships, grants, and partner funding. This model allows organizations to underwrite training for groups that may not otherwise have access. Sponsors receive visible, measurable impact while supporting prevention-focused solutions.
